Description The Clare Valley’s Koonowla was first planted back in the 1890’s, but the property was largely destroyed by fire in the 1920s and not used again from wine production until the 80s. Winemaker Con Mochos is at the head of the winemaking team. This is a Pinot Gris of attractive drinkability, with apple and pear fruit freshness and a pleasing tang and spice.
The Clare Valley is a popular wine region, home to about 50 wineries and renowned for its cool climate wines, notably Riesling. Some of its most well known wineries include Taylors Wines, Annie’s Lane, Grosset Wines, Jim Barry Wines and Kilikanoon which has won James Halliday’s Winery of the Year in years gone by.
