Description As Jancis Robinson says, Hunter Valley Semillon is Australia’s gift to the wine world. Crisp and light and lemony and lovely when young, they turn into honeyed treasures with a bit of time in the cellar. Drink this one now for its gorgeous lemon sherbet characters, or pop it away for a while and see it perform its legendary honeyed, complex magic.
The Hunter Valley is a region of New South Wales, Australia, extending from approximately 120 km (75 mi) to 310 km (193 mi) north of Sydney. The Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s best known wine regions, playing a pivotal role in the history of Australian wine and is one of the first wine regions planted all the way back in the early 19th century. Flanked by mountains to the west and north the Hunter Valley acts as a funnel, pulling cool ocean breezes into the area.
