Description In 1958 in Sicily's town of Menfi, 68 winemakers signed a pact to preserve the island's vineyards and thereby a way of life. 60+ years later, this cooperative has been named 'Winery of the Year' twice – in 2018 by Vini d’Italia and 2017 by Germany’s Weinwirtschaft. It’s also gained top marks in the renowned Gambero Rosso wine guide. Winemaker there is Domenico de Gregorio, Mimmo to his friends, who works with top wine consultant Alberto Antonini and viticulturalist Pedro Parra. Mimmo has taken nearly all Fiano, a grape that excels on Sicily’s sunny, ocean-cooled slopes, and Grecanico to make a delicious white with bright orchard fruits and blossom hints. Chill down – it’s great to sip solo and also works well with seafood or risotto.
