Description 2005 saw the first vintage of wine bearing the Umamu name, after Charmaine Saw's parents fell in love first with the wines of Margaret River and then these particular vineyards. Charmaine notes that a sense of balance forms the basis of the Umamu winemaking philosophy. Boasting several scores between 91-93, and seven years of maturity this is a Margaret River Cabernet with, as Ken Gargett Wine Pilot writes, "a lot to like. 93pts". “Margaret River sets the scene for this (and similar) blends, rolling out layers of blackcurrant-accented fruit, oak and tannins levers used to shape a full-bodied wine. Cassis, licorice and plum are all there to be had. 92pts” James Halliday
