Description Fans of our usual Saracosa will be bowled over by the intensity of its big brother, Governo. Suave and seductive, this is a full, rounded blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, aged for four months in small oak barrels. What’s more, a portion of grapes were left to dry for 20 days, adding terrific concentration to the wine. It’s a method known as Governo in Tuscany, dating from the 14th century. Critics love it as much as our customers do, Luca Maroni awarding it 98 points four years in a row and Oz Clarke calling it "hedonists' heaven". The wine is a testament to the talents of Sofia Barbanera, whose family has been tending vines, overlooked by the Saracosa hill in Tuscany, since the 1940s. Decant and serve with a rich casserole or beef.
