Description Tyrrells is one of the most famous names in Australian wine. Founded in 1858 in the Hunter Valley, five generations later they still produce some of the country's finest wines. They are renowned for the world's best Semillon and produce many other wines with legendary status. Their list of awards includes Australia’s Best Winery, Winery of the Year 2010, Winemaker of the Year twice in 2004 and in 2009, 14 out of 19 Trophies at the Sydney Show and many more! In 1994 they mad their first foray into Heathcote. A modern style of Australian red that also respects the tradition of varietal blending to make a more rounded wine. The wine shows intense plum fruit sweetness from the Shiraz with dark berry and chocolate characters. The 5% Cabernet component adds to the length and fullness of the wine.
The Hunter Valley is a region of New South Wales, Australia, extending from approximately 120 km (75 mi) to 310 km (193 mi) north of Sydney. The Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s best known wine regions, playing a pivotal role in the history of Australian wine and is one of the first wine regions planted all the way back in the early 19th century. Flanked by mountains to the west and north the Hunter Valley acts as a funnel, pulling cool ocean breezes into the area.
