Description Pigassou is a must for those customers who are both romantics and Francophiles with either happy memories – or dreams – of the sunny south of France in the days when a handful of francs bought a tasty two-course lunch and a pichet of maison rouge. Either that, or you just love a supple, fruity, easy-going red. This wine will suit both camps. It’s made from little known varieties nurtured by the many small family growers in this part of France. They pool their resources, taking their grapes to the local cellar in Laure Minervois. Combining Marselan for its supple, ripe raspberry and cassis notes with Caladoc’s dark, spicy, plum flavours, Pigassou is herby and fruity, delicious and informal. Serve as and when the fancy takes you – cool or at room temperature.
