Description Monterra (part of Field Day Wines) was formed by Canadian-born and raised (but long-term McLaren Vale resident) Norm Doole, here in partnership with Mike Farmilo and Nick Whiteway. The fruit for this Gold-winning Gris was sourced from the Adelaide Hills. “It's elegantly expressed with white flesh nectarine, ripe pear, lemon peel and floral notes on the nose, followed by a beautifully rounded palate offering juicy fruit flavours with fine texture and bright acidity. Adelaide Hills is based in the southern Mount Lofty Ranges just east of Adelaide in South Australia. Adelaide Hills is a premium and ancient region with a decidedly cooler climate, meaning crisp nights adds wonderful aromatics to the wines. Adelaide Hills was one of the first regions in Australia to be settled by European settlers of German origin. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the hero grapes of the region.
