Description Leconfield was set up in 1974 by Sydney Hamilton who, at 76, dreamed of creating classic Aussie wines from old vineyards. Now, “the arrival of winemaker Paul Gordon has allowed the full potential of those vineyards to be realised” (Halliday). He gives this one an impressive 95pts: "A cold soak and 7 days on skins for the main part, the remainder completing its fermentation in barrel, matured in French oak (21% new) for 16 months. Has excellent colour in tune with its youth; while its whole life lies ahead, the balance and silky mouthfeel of the blackberry/plum mean it can be enjoyed any time the mood takes you ... 95pts” (James Halliday).
