Barbera is one of the region’s star red grapes, but still plays second fiddle to Nebbiolo. It’s wines are fresh, fruity and often for early drinking – almost the Beaujolais of northern Italy. Added to this is a small portion of Dolcetto to soften (domare means to tame) the wine, and make it even fruitier.
