Description Outstanding, rich Rhône red from Domaine de la Bastide, an ancient southern Rhône property formerly run by Benedictine monks and before that as a farm by Knights Templar. Owner, Vincent Boyer has plenty of artefacts to prove that, including ancient coins and a centuries' old wine vat! The Boyer family bought it in 1989 and today second-generation Vincent and Stephanie run the estate. Their vineyards largely lie in the village of Visan and most of these great quality grapes go into the cru wine. However, some always end up in his luscious Côtes du Rhône. It's a rich, supple blend of top trio Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, with a splash of Mourvèdre, providing a balance of ripe fruit, freshness and silky tannins. Lovely now with grilled meats, a herby vegetable bake or at a bbq.
