Description Fragrant, pure and elegant Hunter Valley Semillon from the longest running commercial vineyard in Australia. A little history: George Wyndham arrived in Australia in 1823 and promptly set about assembling vast agricultural holdings stretching from Inverell to the Liverpool Plains. In 1904, Penfolds purchased Wyndham Estate and renamed it Dalwood. 63 years later Perc McGuigan, bought the vineyard and winery and renamed it Wyndham Estate, but the Dalwood brand was sold on to Sam and Christie Arnaout and Sweetwater Wines 50 years later, and so Dalwood Estate proudly announces that it is the birthplace of Australian wine. The wines are made by Bryan Currie of Hungerford Hill. Dalwood Estate Semillon grows in sandy loam soil on the south bank of the Hunter River. The 2022 vintage was cool with ample rainfall. The fruit is fragrant with lemon pith and lime zest; the palate is pure and elegant.
