Description From humble beginnings in the 1890s, where itinerate farmers scratched a living out of the native bushland, to today’s world famous wine growing region, Margaret River has seen a true ‘Rags to Riches’ story. The 2021 vintage required extra work and attention to detail in the vineyard. The Wilyabrup Cabernet block responded well to the extra work and achieved optimum ripeness. The final wine shows great fruit purity and varietal expression with lower alcohol which helps the aromatics pop; plums, cherry, mulberry, and subtle anise. On the palate, concentrated mulberry and blackberry are balanced by cool-climate acidity, savoury forest floor notes and lingering tannins. "The more I go back to this, the more I like it. A riper yet contained style with all the varietal flavour of this Margaret River stalwart. Fragrant and fruitful, the key is lovely tannins and a more medium-weighted palate. Nice one. 91pts. " Jane Faulkner, The Halliday Wine Companion. "Elegantly styled and delightfully appealing, the inviting bouquet shows dark plum, fennel, olive and hazelnut aromas, leading to an elegantly weighted palate that's succulent and supple. Beautifully infused fine-grained tannins provide lovely grip and length. 92pts" (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit).

Margaret River

Renowned for its surf breaks, Margaret River is also famous for its wine production and tourism. Margaret River wines account for just 3% of Australia’s annual wine production, but commands over 20 percent of the Australian premium wine market.

Little wonder the wines are rather pricey in nature. The region is made up of boutique wineries. The weather is maritime, with warm summers, influenced by refreshing sea breezes and strong winds and rather akin to Bordeaux.
