Description Etna Rosso wines are prized for their wonderful layers of nuanced flavour and ability to age. Mount Etna is the highest and most active volcano in Europe. Any grape grower knows not to plant their vines in one single block, because you don't know where the next eruption will blast from! Winemaker Filipe Mangione says "Everything is so intense here – the nature, volcano, soils and climate." Yet he wouldn't choose anywhere else to be a grower or a winemaker. His vines lie at 700 metres altitude, so the grapes don't only ripen beautifully, they retain lifted aromas and a freshness that allows his wines to age. The Nerellos are the speciality grapes here – Mascalese and Cappuccio – they lend the wines their unique aromatic red fruit and vibrant edge. Elegant wild herb, cherry and freshness. A great choice to cut through richer dishes.
