Description Succulent styles with a touch of class. Save $28 at $16.49 a bottle. Spain does not only produce wines of great maturity – and is certainly not a one-trick pony when it comes to red styles of remarkable value and no lack of flavour and fruit. Centrestage are two heroes. Camino de Seda is a Monastrell-based blend from ancient bush vines high in Jumilla that has won 34 Golds in 10 vintages (over 20 Golds and Double Golds in the past 4 alone). Palacio del Conde is a silky, oak-aged Gran Selección Tempranillo from Valencia with 16 Golds and a Trophy in 9 vintages. They are joined today by a velvety, pure Merlot and a trio of juicy Tempranillo-rich stars, made in an ‘everyday’ drinking style enjoyed throughout Rioja and pretty much thoughout northern Spain.
Lovers of mature Rioja will recognise the red berry and oak character of this terrific value Gran Selección gem from Valencia. It’s been wowing wine judges for years and was skilfully crafted by a winery regularly tipped by Spanish wine guide, Peñín.
Enjoy the easy, silky berry fruit of Spain's Tempranillo, with a hint of toasty oak. This bargain red is from Javier Murúa, behind our much-loved Barón de Barbón Rioja. Lots of flavour for a small price.
A nation famous for traditional old reds also can produce vibrant, uplifting juicy Merlots like this. It is made by a dynamic young winemaker, at a cellar close to Valencia. Bright, plummy and very moreish.
With Gold and TWO Double Gold wins, Camino de Seda is smooth and brimming with big, spicy red fruit flavours. Ancient bush vines high in Spain's Jumilla region produce this intensity, complemented by sweet spicy oak. A very moreish red.
It's thanks to our longstanding friendship with Rioja’s Javier Murúa that he makes Conde de Cron exclusively for us. Its smooth berry and vanilla flavours and simple elegance always make it a delicious choice.
If you’re fond of silky red wines with lots of easy, succulent berry character, then don’t miss Posada del Rey. It’s ripe Tempranillo in an exclusive cuvée made for us by the talented Javier Murúa, the man behind our No.1 Rioja Barón de Barbón.
