Description
Lovely. elegant, and impressive, cool climate Adelaide Hills Single Vineyard Chardonnay made by the dynamic Steve Grimley.
Steve tells us there was a "Touch more colour than previous vintages, which I thought might drop out, but reckon the char in the new oak probably added to it, albeit there still a limey greenness and the hues are on point. Smells expensive, which in fairness the fruit and oak was, nougat with splices of tropical fruits with a squirt of citrus that has it tasting leaner than it looks. Oak is a touch raw, but nothing overt or out of whack… a lovely creaminess rolls onto a tight and tense finish."
It's from a single site in Lenswood, noticeably cooler than the majority of the Hills. It was "…hand picked and whole bunched pressed… Left on lees in mostly second fill French oak and a couple of new ones." Don't miss it!
