Description

Triple Gold Barossa Shiraz with high points aplenty from the always impressive Elena Brooks. As Elena explained to John Lehmann in The Australian “I've always found that the Barossa (style), because of its fruit weight at the front and a lot of beautiful natural tannins at the back, it can leave a hollow middle,… this is where a little bit of American oak goes a long way. This is my little signature that I do. I never ever just have French oak with the Barossa, because just a touch of American oak in the middle goes a long, long way, it gives me chocolate flavours as well. The entire wine just feels generous - polished and generous - and that's really good Barossa for me.”

"The flavours move through coffee beans, mocha, blueberries, cassis, chocolate and blackberries. Silky tannins and excellent length, this is richly flavoured from start to finish. Delicious drinking and should remain so for the next eight to twelve years. Love it. 94pts” (Ken Gargett, WinePilot). For Sam Kim, Wine Orbit “It's opulent and gorgeously aromatic on the nose, showing dark fruit intensity, warm spice, dark cocoa and cedar characters. The palate delivers terrific weight and fleshy texture, wonderfully framed by rounded mouthfeel and silky tannins, finishing long and delicious. At its best: now to 2037.94pt” (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit),

“A good-smelling wine, this one. Plush and ripe plummy fruits with hints of blueberry pie, licorice, purple floral tones, dark chocolate, bay leaf and earth. Some blackberry comes through on the palate with creamy, chocolatey oak, silty tannins and a velvety flow of fruit as the wine fades away. 91pts” (Dave Brookes, The Halliday Wine Companion).
