Description
Refresh yourself with a "lively and intense" (WineFolio) Riesling with scores of 90 and 91pts from Victoria. This easy drinking "modern expression of Riesling… " has " a crisp set of aromas featuring lemongrass, green apple, grapefruit and lime cordial on the nose. Tight and concentrated in the palate, with a signature line of acidity featuring prominently, and giving great length. Lively and intense throughout, before a dry, clean finish. 91pts" (WineFolio). It comes from the rising star Greenstone Vineyards, with two vineyards, one in Heathcote, the other from the Yarra Valley – (Yarra legend Rob Dolan’s old ‘Sticks’ winery vineyard, and formerly called Yarra Ridge – first planted in 1983 by Louis Bialkower and his good friend James Halliday!). This site is the home of the winery itself, about an hour away from Melbourne.
The name Greenstone is derived from the ancient Cambrian soils in the Heathcote vineyard. These – the result of underwater volcanic activity – are some of the oldest in the country – and have a deep, iron-rich red colour mottled with lime green-tinted copper-infused basalt!
