Description
True thoroughbred McLaren Vale Shiraz from one of the First Families of Australia, with a name that honours the famous winery's origins.
In 1912, horse-fanatic Joseph Osborn sold his beloved stables and horses and bought the family the d'Arenberg estate in premium McLaren Vale. One of the horses sold was the great 'Thunderstep', a powerful racer and father to Footbolt! (Now an iconic red from d'Arenberg's extensive range).
Joseph chose McLaren Vale as it has some of Australia's oldest vineyards, and with an array of soils and the cooling effect of the nearby ocean, it's ideal for vines.
Winemaker today is sixth-generation Chester Osborn. You'll always spot a d'Arenberg wine with its bold red stripe on the label. Chester continues many family traditions of excellence, flair – and quirkiness. Including treading the grapes by foot part way through fermentation.
This is a great Shiraz to enjoy with hearty dishes. Expect plenty of dark colour, character and richness in the glass.
