Description
A lavish Single Vineyard Shiraz from a “fine Barossa vintage” (WinePilot) with a trio of 95pt scores, from winemaker Jason Schwarz, who set up Schwarz Wine Co in 2001, and whose parents are grape growers in Barossa’a Bethany.
As Dave Brookes explains in The Halliday Wine Companion: “Jason Schwarz's parents planted this shiraz in Bethany in 1968… Thickly fruited with opulent blackberry, black cherry and cassis characters with hints of olive tapenade, graphite, tobacco, cedar, amaro herbs, dark chocolate bullets, turned earth and an array of dark spice. Full bodied… fine, powdery tannin and a thick-shouldered swell of black fruits that roll on for some time. 95pts. Great Value” (Dave Brookes, The Halliday Wine Companion).
Shanteh Wale, WinePilot calls it:. "A celebration of old vines loving tended in the Eastern Barossa range. This calls for slow cooked meats, ox tail and inky gravy. Drink now or will cellar well for another 6-8 years further. 95pts” while for Sam Kim Wine Orbit it: "…beautifully combines power and elegance…impressively long and satisfying. 95pts."
