Description
Beautifully mature Gold-winning Spanish Gran Selección. As Robert Parker says, “Spain leads the world for sensational wine bargains of character and soul”, none more so than its mature reds. Nowhere else produces mellow, barrel aged wines of such remarkable quality and price.>/p>
Take Palacio del Conde – a gorgeous, complex, oaky 2020 from Valencia. It has been wowing wine judges for years, winning 17 Golds and a Trophy in just 10 vintage releases. This 2020 adds another! Some of Valencia's vineyards are close to the coast, while the more southerly ones are inland, up in the hills where it's very arid. It’s there that winemaker Marta Martínez selects the finest, hand harvested Tempranillo grapes – from 50-year-old vines – for this Gran Reserva, then ages the wine for three years in oak barrels.
A wonderfully fragrant, silky red with mature redcurrant and strawberry fruit and a rich, toasty character. Sublime with roast lamb or tapas.
