Description Hand harvested to select only the ripest Tempranillo grapes from the old vines, this wine is complex and elegant with layers of luscious red berries, freshness and velvety smooth tannins. Pagos de Tahola is an outstanding modern Rioja from a century-old family estate. The wine’s exuberant, bright fruit comes down to mature vines grown in some of Rioja’s highest vineyards, and its juicy sappiness is thanks to the excellent quality of the vintage. The first vines were planted at this estate in 1882 while the winery was built in 1968 and is kept up to date. Two generations of the Chavarri family run the bodega today – father Francisco and daughter Ruth – while Miguel Lopez Nunez is winemaker. Intended to be enjoyed in its youth, this vibrant Tempranillo is very much the style the locals prefer, with its bright strawberry and raspberry charm. Serve with Tapas.
