Typically its wines have a freshness that complements the cuisine. You’ll find that in Il Basso, the acidity balancing the darker fruit notes of the riper Abruzzo Merlot. Merlot is not native to Italy, but clearly well suited. Il Basso is designed to be all fruit, no oak – tasty on its own or with Italian dishes of braised chicken, lasagne or risotto.
