Description Gold-winning,bright, fruit-forward, Marlborough Pinot Noir from one of the region’s finest estates. The Hunter’s story is the story of Marlborough wine. Hunter’s is the dream of Ernie and Jane Hunter - a fiercely independent, family-owned winery established in Marlborough. Before pioneers like Ernie and Jane set up shop, this Kiwi region was known only for barley and sheep. From their very first vintage in 1982 Hunter’s wines won six medals at the National Wine Show. Today the estate is run by Jane Hunter, herself a trained viticulturist. She has a string of accolades for her work, including an OBE and Companion of the NZ Order of Merit for viticulture. Winemaker today is Jane’s nephew James Macdonald. This is finely balanced, fruit-forward with plum and red fruit characters. Vanilla spice and cherry fruit characters fills the mid-palate for a beautiful finish. A Gold medal winner at the Marlborough Show 2024. "Though the dark ruby hue catches the eye, this is classic Marlborough in the end, and wonderfully so. Expect red fruit, cherry and vanilla as you breath in, at least at first, as it’ll reward a swirl or two in the glass with notes of lavender and a hint of mushroom. The palate is juicy with redcurrant and cherry, some spice and a lick of savouriness. The acid would cut through some fatty duck nicely." (John Lehmann, The Australian).
