Paolo Curtis was appointed by Cardinal de Medici to administer Papal lands in the area around Cervaro. (The name Curtis is believed to derive from Curtius, a noble and wealthy Roman Empire family.) The family came to Australia in 1953, and has been growing grapes and making wine in McLaren Vale since 1973. Curtis Family Vineyards sources fruit from a combination of owned vineyards and premium McLaren Vale growers. The blend of individual vineyards and sub-regional characteristics is the key to the resulting style. Sub regions are Blewitt Springs, McLaren Flat, Willunga and McLaren Vale. In this Shiraz, you'll find aromas of fresh blackberry, raspberry and mulberry, hints of spice, flowing through to a palate of red berry fruit, fine, tannins and generous fruit, balanced by integrated oak.
